Kite Caring Instructions
Repair
Repair is part of the normal upkeep of your kites. If any repair is done to the wings, make sure both wings are still well balanced after you repair them, otherwise the kite may favor turning to one side. (The bamboo wings are split from the same piece of bamboo ensuring that both wings have the same density and balance; if replacement is needed, make sure you replace both wings at the same time.)
Chinese kites look rather delicate and fragile, how strong and durable are they?
Made of durable bamboo frame, the kites are fexible and quite strong. However, to prolong the life of a kite, try to avoid damages during a crash. When the kite starts to dive, do not panic and pull at the line. Instead, make sure to let out a lot of line just before the kite hits the ground. The slack will allow the kite to float gently down to the ground.
Are they easy to assemble?
Yes. All kites come with easy to follow assembly instruction and flying tips. However, because they are handcrafted, and because the bamboo sticks need to fit snugly into the keepers, sometimes the stick is cut a bit thicker than required. In that case, a tiny little bit of whittling will solve the problem.
If something breaks, is it fixable?
Perhaps, but make sure that the kite is still well balanced after repair. 3D kite wings are split from the same strip of bamboo so that the moisture content, weight, flexibility, etc. of the bamboo sticks are equal to ensure that the kite is completely balanced. After home-repair, if the kite tips to one side, add a little something like a paper clip to the other side to balance the weight.
